Today’s Bite-Sized Self-Care: Random Act of Kindness
One of the best ways to make yourself happy is to make other people happy. One of the best ways to make other people happy is to be happy yourself.
- Gretchen Rubin, The Happiness Project
Today’s Challenge:
Today we’re going to focus on a random act of kindness. Acts of kindness can have a ripple effect, improving not just the recipient's day but also the giver's (that’s you!) mood.
Here are a few ideas:
Let someone go ahead of you in line at the grocery store.
Hold the door open for someone.
Pay for the person behind you at the coffee shop.
Bake (or buy to keep it bite-sized) cookies for a neighbor.
Call a friend or family member you haven’t talked to lately.
Mail someone an unexpected gift, postcard, or handwritten letter.
Conversation Starters:
What are your experiences with random acts of kindness, either as a recipient or a giver? How did they make you feel?
Spreading kindness, one act at a time,
Brie
Bonus: Pearls Before Swine is my favorite comic strip, and they mentioned this topic last week. Check it out here.
This is on my goal of things to focus on this year, and specifically this month (cycling through once a quarter). I do a lot of these things, and need to remind myself that I do them.
And then can plan to do more, and more useful things.
