Finger Stretches: day 30 of the QUALITY BOSS 30-day self-care challenge.
Welcome to day 30 of the self-care challenge! You can catch up here if needed.
We Made It to Day 30 Together!
Hey everyone! We've made it to the last day of our 30-day self-care challenge. I'm so happy you've been part of this journey. I hope you have enjoyed the challenge, and that you’ve found at least one new self-care idea to incorporate into your daily routine.
I can't wait to see you all here tomorrow. We'll look back at what we've done and celebrate our journey. It's going to be a great way to wrap up the challenge together.
But first, let's focus on today's activity and give our fingers some love. They deserve it after all this typing!
Today’s Bite-Sized Self-Care: Finger Stretches
I never really paid much attention to my fingers until I injured one while rock climbing session. The following day, the pain was quite noticeable. Thankfully, it wasn't broken, but moving it was uncomfortable. I resorted to using a finger splint from the local drugstore, which was effective in immobilizing the finger for healing. However, it did make typing a bit of a challenge!
If you're like me and spend a considerable amount of time typing, you might not realize just how much work your fingers do each day. These often-overlooked body parts can greatly benefit from some dedicated care.
Just as we stretch other parts of our bodies, our fingers deserve the same attention.
Today’s Challenge:
Let’s take a few minutes to stretch out those fingers. Using the opposite hand, gently press your fingers back away from your palm, bending each finger towards your outer wrist. You can also try extending each finger with a gentle pull, almost as if you're trying to lengthen it.
Give some love to your wrists too. Press back on all fingers at once to stretch your wrist. Then, press on the back of your hand to bend your palm and fingers towards your inner wrist.
Finish up by dropping your arms to your sides. Make a fist with each hand and rotate your fists in small circles, first in one direction, then the opposite. Next, flex your fists inward toward your body and hold. Release and repeat, flexing away from your body.
These simple exercises can help alleviate tension and maintain flexibility in your fingers and wrists.
