Bite-Sized Self-Care Challenge Day Three
Journal: day three of the QUALITY BOSS 30-day self-care challenge.
Welcome to day three of the self-care challenge! You can catch up here if needed.
Today’s Bite-Sized Self-Care: Journal
As a blogger, I write a lot and have always been drawn to writing and reading as creative pursuits. However, writing for a blog or website differs greatly from writing in a journal. While a blog invites public engagement, a journal represents a personal journey.
In contrast to a blog, a journal is a safe and private space for your thoughts. This is just for you and you alone. There’s something about getting what’s inside your head out and onto paper (or the screen, if you prefer digital, like me). Writing in a journal can be a powerful tool to process thoughts and emotions.
Daily writing exercises were one component of the Master Class from The Art of Accomplishment, which I took earlier this year. Each week, we were assigned journaling topics. Throughout the course, I established and maintained a regular journaling practice for the first time in my life. I’m still working to build this into a solid habit, but when I feel stuck or anxious, writing it down helps tremendously. It’s as if writing it down allows my brain to let go of its worries, at least for a short time.
Today’s Challenge:
Spend at least five minutes reflecting on the past year: the highs, the lows, and what you hope for in 2024. What do you want to carry forward, and what would you like to leave behind?
Do you already write in a journal regularly? Why or why not?
Until the next page turns,
Brie
I do journal and have since I was 8 years old. I’m curious to hear more about the class you took. Was it business related?
