Bite-Sized Self-Care Challenge Day Two
Gratitude: day two of the QUALITY BOSS 30-day self-care challenge.
Welcome to day two of the self-care challenge! If you missed the introduction or day one, you can catch up here.
Today’s Bite-Sized Self-Care: Gratitude
I first heard about the practice of Gratitude while reading Gretchen Rubin’s book The Happiness Project1. The practice never really stuck with me until this year, when I took a Master Class from The Art of Accomplishment. This class is hard to describe but it’s a mix of coaching, journaling, exploring how to exist more authentically, using a framework called VIEW (Vulnerability, Impartiality, Empathy, Wonder).
During the eight-week course, we were asked to engage in daily gratitude sessions. Seven minutes a day, spoken out loud, alternating with another person. This could be your class partner, another class participant, or anyone else from your life.
I partnered up with Rian, another classmate, someone who I had never met before. After just a few minutes of introductions, we jumped into our first of many daily gratitude sessions. It’s amazing how much you can learn about someone just by listening to three and a half minutes of what they're grateful for each day.
Today’s Challenge:
Today, I invite you to practice gratitude in a way that suits you. No partner is necessary. You can write it down, say it out loud, or simply think it. Feel the gratitude first, then name it using phrases like “I feel grateful for …” or “I’m grateful for …” No need for qualifications, justifications, or explanations. Just pure gratitude.
If you’re up for sharing, what are some things you’re grateful for today?
Grateful for all of you,
Brie
